With the first red band trailer for Movie 43, director Peter Farrelly and producer Charles Wessler, the duo responsible for There’s Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber, made one thing clear: this movie is for adults.
That trailer crammed in toilet gags, period jokes, foul language, racial stereotyping and nudity. Sounds a bit like a night this writer once spent on a Greyhound bus, but I won’t get into that.
Released today is a green band trailer for the film, which offers a toned-down version of the initial footage we saw.
In this latest family-friendly trailer most of the adult content is stripped away, cutting to alternate versions of scenes, or bleeping out the depravity. The newest chunk of content comes in the form of Jason Sudeikis’ character suited in full Batman cape along with tweaks on previously released takes.
The cast boasts a veritable who’s who of Hollywood including: Elizabeth Banks, Kristen Bell, Halle Berry, Leslie Bibb, Kate Bosworth, Gerard Butler, Bobby Cannavale, Kieran Culkin, Josh Duhamel, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, John Hodgman, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Justin Long, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chris Pratt, Liev Schreiber, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet.
Movie 43 hits theaters January 25th, 2013.
