How [SPOILERS] May Still Be Alive After Avengers: Infinity War

ComicBook.com has pieced together a report claiming that [spoilers] may still be alive even after the calamitous events of Avengers: Infinity War.

True to their word, directors Joe and Anthony Russo upped the stakes quite considerably for Avengers: Infinity War.

So whereas previous installments in the MCU have received criticism for their half-baked villains and oddly low death counts, Marvel’s 2018 event movie changed the game with a powerful and nuanced antagonist (read: Thanos) and more big-name character deaths than we can shake an Infinity Gauntlet at.

Alas, that body count won’t be addressed until next year’s untitled Avengers 4, given Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel have both been angled as MCU prequels – the first takes place immediately after Civil War, while Carol Danvers’ origin pic is primed to whisk viewers off to the 1990s.

Suffice it to say, it’s going to be a long, long 12 months before Avengers 4 delivers the answers fans so crave, but at least according to a new report compiled by ComicBook.com, there’s one character who may still be alive after the calamitous events of Infinity War. Spoilers to follow!

Providing you’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War in all its glory, you’ll know that the Russo Brothers killed off Loki, Vision, Heimdall and Gamora in shocking fashion, though it’s the latter who may yet reappear in time for Avengers 4 – not to mention Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

As ComicBook.com so rightly points out, the Soul Stone of Marvel Comics contains a miniaturized world of its own, so there’s every chance that Gamora’s spirit was zapped into the cosmic gem soon after she was sacrificed on Vormir. Mind you, the camera cuts to her lifeless body, cast astray under the icy storm, but once Thanos has clicked his fingers, we see a strange dream sequence in which he’s confronted by the young Gamora. Is this a tell-tale sign that her character’s conscious still remains intact?

It’s a stretch, of course, but given how Marvel Studios is fast approaching the, ahem, endgame of Phase 3, there’s no telling what Joe and Anthony Russo have in store for Avengers 4 when it opens big on May 3rd, 2019.
