Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is filled with so many plot twists and genuine surprises that it’s almost impossible to spoil entirely. Or so says Anthony Mackie.
The Falcon actor is currently in attendance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Cinema Blend caught up with him to discuss Sam Wilson, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the finer details that make up Infinity War. Of course, Mackie wasn’t at liberty to reveal everything – remember, Thanos demands our silence – but he did present an interesting perspective on spoiler culture and why it isn’t likely to have much of a bearing on Marvel’s third Avengers movie.
Put simply, Anthony Mackie believes Infinity War is too big to spoil in the sense that one tiny plot point – one scene description, one revelation about the fate of one character – won’t necessarily take away from the overall experience as “the 0ther 99 percent” of Joe and Anthony Russo’s event movie still has the ability to blow our minds.
Very simple: don’t ask questions. Don’t read anything. Don’t look. And the idea is there is so much in this movie; that even if you get a spoiler, the other 99 percent of the movie is going to blow your mind. To the point that one spoiler, it won’t even matter.
So, there you have it; Avengers: Infinity War is, on some levels, too big to spoil because there’s simply so much happening simultaneously. It’s a movie that looks set to unfold across three separate fronts: New York, Wakanda and outer space, where the God of Thunder has found himself in the company of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
And though Mackie is quietly confident that Avengers: Infinity War has kept most of its secrets under wraps, we imagine the vast majority of Marvel fans will be avoiding social media at all costs until they see Marvel’s crossover with their own two eyes.
