Will Avengers: Infinity War Spell The End Of Loki?

The latest Avengers: Infinity War trailer finds Loki in a spot of bother. But is this really the end of the road for Tom Hiddleston's mischievous god?

It’s shaping up to be a long and fascinating six weeks.

With Infinity War‘s new and likely final trailer out in the wild, budding comic book fans are beginning to ask the biggest questions: is that a young Gamora clutching on to Thanos and his giant, purple hands? What’s the deal with Loki and the Black Order? And where oh where is Clint Barton?!

Hawkeye aside, the fate of Tom Hiddleston’s mischievous god has been thrust under the microscope in light of Avengers: Infinity War‘s second trailer, which found a haggard Loki in the company of the Black Order – namely Proxima Midnight, Loki, Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, and Cull Obsidian.

In fact, that scene had Proxima Midnight pointing her spear towards Loki, which tells us that Hiddleston’s cult hero has landed himself in something of an intergalactic hostage situation. Be that as it may, could it be that Infinity War is about to kill off Loki for good?

Joe and Anthony Russo have long said that Avengers: Infinity War will bump off a number of key Marvel favorites, as the threat of Thanos and his alien invasion is enough to bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to their knees.

Then again, leaked set photos for Avengers 4 have revealed a flashback scene involving Loki and his Asgardian sibling, Thor. So even if these latest rumors hold true, Infinity War won’t be Tom Hiddleston’s final appearance in the MCU, per se – just don’t expect the 2019 sequel to incorporate any element of time travel, after it was revealed that those old-school set photos were made possible by Tony Stark’s B.A.R.F. (Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing).

Closer to home, Avengers: Infinity War is due to hit theaters on April 27th, by which point we’ll surely have a better understanding of Loki’s future in the MCU – or lack thereof.
