Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be sporting some sweet new clothes in Avengers: Infinity War.
From Tony Stark’s so-called Prime Armor to Thor and his mighty Jarnbjorn – a Dwarven-forged battle ax that will soon replace Mjolnir in the God of Thunder’s arsenal – Marvel’s costumed crusaders are gearing up for a whole new era. And there is perhaps no better example of that evolution in action than Peter Parker and his revamped Iron Spider suit.
Initially showcased to the wide-eyed Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Iron Spider armor is another headline-worthy creation from Stark Industries. Now fighting alongside the Avengers following his clash with Adrian Toomes (AKA The Vulture), Tom Holland’s wall-crawler is clearly in need of some improvements, and we imagine Tony Stark has thrown in a few more bells and whistles (and extendable arms, perhaps?) to beef up the hero’s arsenal.
We’ll have to reserve any judgment until May 4th, though, as Marvel is keeping any and all story details under lock and key. However that may be, concept artist Sany Lebedev (via ComicBook.com) has served up the next best thing: a video essay designed to recount his own Iron Spider artwork. And it’s a must-watch.
From the Infinity War trailer, we know Peter Parker’s alter-ego will be going toe-to-toe with Thanos at some point in the Russo Brothers’ event movie, and that’s despite the fact Tom Holland had no clue who he was fighting on set.
The Iron Spider will be one of 76 – count ’em, 76 – characters anchoring Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, and we can hardly wait. If you’re curious, last night also brought forth the sequel’s new international trailer, in which Marvel’s Mad Titan can be seen making his move. Those Infinity Stones aren’t gunna’ collect themselves, you know.
