There’s just a couple of weeks left until we get to see Avengers: Infinity War and hype is at an all-time high. So much so that next year’s Avengers 4 is practically an afterthought at this point.
Naturally, though, that’s all going to change after we see Infinity War, the events of which will no doubt drive an insane amount of speculation about what 2019 has in store. One important thing that we should learn soon after (or during the post-credits scene) is the official title of Avengers 4, and according to the Russo brothers we should be afraid of it. Very afraid.
Taking to Twitter, one fan posted that the fact that Marvel won’t reveal the title yet scares him, to which the directors replied: “It should.” They wouldn’t say anything further than that, but this does indicate that whatever it ends up being called will be a spoiler for the events of Infinity War, while also teasing that something unexpected or bad is going to happen to our heroes.
At minimum, it looks as though the multiple promises that the MCU is going to be drastically changed after the events of Infinity War are going to be fulfilled. With many of the most prominent stars, like Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth, approaching the ends of the their lucrative multi-movie contracts, and Kevin Feige hungry to get some new (and let’s face it, cheaper) talent for the next few films, it’s looking more and more likely that Thanos is going to personally take down a real heavy hitter.
Let’s just say that things don’t look too great for Captain America and Iron Man in the latest Infinity War trailer. Cap is going toe-to-toe with the big bad and, while the Titan seems surprised at the fight he’s putting up, he’s still just a man (albeit an enhanced one). And can any amount of Iron Man’s advanced technology really put up a convincing battle against cosmic powers? Underneath that armor, he’s again, just a regular guy.
Either way, all – or at least a lot more than we know now – will be revealed on April 27th, when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters and changes the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.
