Before completing the intergalactic journey to home video next month, Avengers: Infinity War is making a brief pit stop on your preferred digital platform. But before the gang – well, what’s left of them – settle down indefinitely on your bookshelf, we’re getting our first look at some of the bonus content that’ll be accompanying the Anthony and Joe Russo-directed blockbuster into your personal collection.
On the commentary track attached to your digital download of Infinity War – should you choose to purchase it, of course – co-scribe Stephen McFeely revealed that while he and Christopher Markus were putting the screenplay together, Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok was essentially without a script, which posed quite the conundrum for the former’s writers.
“We’re starting this script in January of 2016. There’s no Ragnarok script. They are in various stages of development, so the first scene of this movie changed a bunch. Until we found out that they were gonna end on a trip off of a destroyed Asgard, we didn’t know where Thanos would find Loki.”
Thankfully, then, Ragnarok ended up giving them an ideal starting point. Although, had it not, McFeely and Markus did have a backup plan or two: “We did know we wanted Thanos to come to Loki. We have drafts of it in any number of places,” said Markus.
At this juncture, I doubt anyone’s even remotely interested in where else Thanos (Josh Brolin) might’ve met up with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), seeing as the encounter ended with the God of Mischief’s death and some of us are still mourning his loss, regardless of his past and deceitful nature.
That said, if you’re still interested in hearing what those monsters behind Avengers: Infinity War have to say, you can pick it up now on Digital HD, or wait two weeks for when it’ll hit store shelves – on August 14th. Also, if you haven’t placed your pre-order yet or bought it digitally, be sure to enter our contest for a chance to win the film on Blu-ray!
