A new behind the scenes shot from Avengers: Infinity War has surfaced over on Reddit today and it might just break your heart.
If you’ve seen the film, you surely know the moment in question. Over the event movie’s two hour plus runtime, we watch in shock as Thanos bats our favorite heroes aside to “balance” the universe. To do this, he wants to kill half of its population using the power of the Infinity Stones, thus (supposedly) improving the lives of the living remainder.
As the battle of Wakanda reaches its climax, the Mad Titan finally completes his mission and manages to snap his fingers. Following this, innumerable beings fade out of existence, including our favorites: Groot, T’Challa and Doctor Strange. But the worst is yet to come.
Over on Titan, the Guardians of the Galaxy have been reduced to ash and the same begins to happen to Spider-Man as well. Warned by his Spider-sense, Peter realizes that death is on its way and begins a much slower disintegration as he grasps at Tony Stark, tearfully pleading “I don’t want to go!” It’s this moment which is captured in the snap below, as we see Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland on set, shooting the scene in question.
Of course, this is just the latest in a long line of behind the scenes looks we’ve had at Infinity War lately. You can thank the film’s upcoming Blu-ray release for that, as Marvel’s been pumping out a ton of promo material to build the hype for it. Not that they need to, mind you, as with a global box office haul north of $2 billion, there’s no doubt the pic will do well on home video.
On that note, you can look for Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War to land on Digital on July 31st followed by a release on Blu-ray/DVD two weeks later, on August 14th. The only question left, is, will you be picking it up? Be sure to let us know.
