As you may recall, Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson recently told the LA Times that she’s heard a pitch had happened for another Thor movie, which would likely see Ragnarok director Taika Waititi back on board. While we’re still waiting for confirmation that the film is actually happening, you could perhaps take it as an encouraging sign that the God of Thunder himself survived the events of Endgame. But in Chris Hemsworth’s final scene opposite Thompson, some fans suspect the foundations have been laid for a very different Thor movie to what we’ve seen before.

Those who’ve watched the film will know that Thor appoints Valkyrie as queen of the new Asgard, before setting off to who knows where with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The development seems to hint that Hemsworth will have a role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but if so, then where does that leave Waititi’s rumored project? Well, there’s been some speculation that the so-called “Thor 4” will actually focus on Valkyrie.

Granted, we don’t get the impression that she’ll literally inherit the Thor title, but the new movie certainly sets her up as his successor, so it would only be natural if the next Asgardian adventure cast Thompson as the star. Of course, this is little more than a theory for the time being, but if you haven’t seen the film already, then you can judge for yourself what the future hold for both Valkyrie and the God of Thunder when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
