In addition to half the cast turning to dust as a result of Thanos’ devastating snap, it’s hard not to feel for some of the survivors who were left behind in Avengers: Infinity War to contemplate their failure and mourn the loss of their friends.
But one character whose pain often gets overlooked is Guardians of the Galaxy star Rocket Raccoon. If you think about it, he may have actually had it the worst. His friend Gamora’s one of the first major casualties of the movie and then the rest of his colleagues find themselves disintegrated in the genocidal climax. It’s a tragedy that’s foreshadowed earlier during the pic but that doesn’t mean it hurts any less to watch the beloved character lose everyone who’s close to him.
It remains to be seen, of course, just what he’ll be up to when we see him next, but make no mistake about it, Rocket will be getting in on the fight in Avengers: Endgame and the recent Super Bowl TV spot has now given us our first look at his new costume – which you can check out in the gallery down below, along with the comic it’s pulled from.
Yes, as you can see, this new blue and red look appears to be taken from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s run on the Guardians of the Galaxy comics from back in 2008. It’s not a perfect replica of it, but that does appear to be the inspiration for this new suit and hopefully we’ll see more of it soon.
We also hope to learn more about Rocket’s role in Avengers: Endgame before long. Many have speculated that he’ll actually be the one to save Tony and Nebula as they drift through space, but that remains unconfirmed for now. With only a few months to go though before the film arrives, it should only be a matter of time before Marvel begins to reveal more.
