Regardless of how much truth there is to the ongoing theories that Avengers: Endgame will see the death of Tony Stark, it’s clear that next year’s release will be of crucial importance in the arc of the Phase 1 hero, as the journey that began with 2008’s Iron Man reaches its point of culmination.
But whatever potentially tragic developments await our hero on his next adventure, a possible leak from the Avengers: Infinity War sequel suggests that he’ll at least get a stylish new suit out of the deal. The red-and-gold outfit has already drawn comparisons to the Mark II costume from the comics, and while it remains to be seen whether this alleged concept art was the design that Marvel Studios ultimately went with, you probably won’t hear many complaints from the fans if this illustration ends up making the jump to live-action.
This isn’t the first piece of Iron Man art to make the rounds in the lead-up to Marvel’s Phase 3 finale. A couple of months ago, for instance, a few images of a red and silver design drew a range of theories online, with some suggesting that the illustrations actually showed the “under armor” to Stark’s classic “golden sleeves” costume from the comics. With this in mind, it’s tempting to argue that the old leak and this new one might actually show the same suit of armor, though it’s likely that an array of slightly varying designs circulated behind the scenes, so who’s to say?
In any case, we’ll see what new outfit Stark is rocking when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019, and from the look of things, he won’t be the only hero to acquire a brand new, Iron-Man style suit.
