With ten days to go until the release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has just shared a brand new featurette that makes a case for viewing the movie in IMAX.
The video sees co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo discuss how the grand narrative and larger-than-life characters of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel justify watching the flick on the biggest screen you can find. Joe also reminisces a little on his experience working in the MCU, claiming that the cast has come to be like family to him. In particular, the filmmaker says he has fond memories of Robert Downey Jr. hosting lunch for the team every day, adding that “it really was like summer camp for all of us.”
Much like the Russo Brothers, the filmgoing public has grown fond of seeing Downey and his co-stars each summer, but with next week’s release, you can expect to see the departure of a few series regulars. In particular, it’s widely predicted that some of the Phase 1 heroes will be dropping out in order to make room for new characters. Even Chris Evans has joked about the possibility of Captain America dying in Endgame, much to the horror of the fans.
In any case, we still have much to learn about the fate of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but one thing we feel safe in predicting is that the movie is about to score a huge opening weekend. Deadline, for instance, recently reported that Avengers: Endgame is likely headed for a domestic debut upwards of $260 million, and may even near the $300 million mark in its first three days. Some phenomenal figures, to say the least, but we’ll find out if the film can live up to these expectations when it comes out on April 26th.
