Next week’s Avengers: Endgame will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face off once more against Thanos, and it looks like the Mad Titan won’t be the only Avengers: Infinity War villain to make a comeback.
A new ad for various Endgame tie-in toys features the latest action figures for Ronin and Captain America stood alongside Ebony Maw. The Black Order henchman was portrayed by Tom Vaughan-Lawlor in last year’s release, where he managed to cause a fair amount of trouble for Doctor Strange, Peter Parker and Tony Stark. And while the character was thought dead after being thrown into the vacuum of space, it seems that Ebony just might be poised for an appearance in Marvel’s Phase 3 finale.
If so, then there are a few ways that Vaughan-Lawlor’s character could return to the fray. Though one of the more obvious explanations would be that he somehow survived his trip through space, the oft-rumored time travel plot may also see our heroes encounter Ebony at an earlier point in the timeline.
Either way, Ebony is just one of many seemingly dead character who might well return in next week’s release. In fact, various reports and interviews have suggested that an assortment of figures from throughout the history of the MCU will show up one way or another, which falls in line with Scarlett Johansson’s recent claim that the movie will be a “beautiful Valentine to a decade of madness.”
Then, of course, you’ve got all those snap victims who may be dust now, but already have sequels and spinoffs confirmed for the future. Clearly, death isn’t always the end in the Marvel universe, but we’ll find out just how all these deceased characters are back in action when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
