Steve Rogers has always been known as the man out of time (and rightly so), but it looks like Marvel’s star-spangled patriot will be paying a visit to post-war America when Avengers 4 rolls around in 2018.
Filming on the Joe and Anthony Russo sequel has been taking place in Atlanta, which has fast become a hub for all things Marvel Studios, given the city recently hosted Ant-Man and the Wasp – incidentally, Captain Marvel is expected to swoop into production early next year there as well, when it’s believed that a number of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will cross over into Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s nascent spinoff.
The jury’s still out on that one, mind you, but we’re now learning that Avengers 4 may feature another flashback – this time, it’ll be all about Steve Rogers, as he returns home from the front lines of World War II. At least, that’s the theory proposed by the folks at AJC, who captured this rather quaint photo of Marvel’s crew coordinating a shot on the streets of Atlanta.
Shooting in Fayette County on Thanksgiving Eve, it’s understood Chris Evans has been spotted on set, so surely this old-fashioned scene has something to do with Cap’s past, right? See what you think:
It’s certainly not out of the equation. Remember, much like Infinity War before it, the fourth Avengers movie is a film of infinite proportions, so there’s no telling what Joe and Anthony Russo have up their collective sleeve for 2019.
Besides, the fact that Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr., were all spotted in their Avengers attire suggests that the Russo Brothers will play fast and loose with timelines.
File that one in the rumor cabinet for now, though, as Marvel yet to release any official details on Avengers 4 – including the title. Fear not, though: there is light at the end of the tunnel, what with the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War due to arrive early next month before screening in front of The Last Jedi.
