Fakery is a delicate art form that not everyone can get the hang of, and though one Marvel fan on Reddit has taken the time to write over 1,200 words trying to convince us that they’ve seen the first trailer for Avengers 4, they give their whole game away in just two: “Avengers: Assemble.” For what it’s worth, the post has now been deleted, but in all likelihood, user Tree_and_Rabbit’s guess was as good as yours.
Granted, the highly dubious proposed title wasn’t the only red flag in the newly “leaked” promo description. For one thing, the post suffered from the same issue as many of its forbearers in that it simply gives away too much, and that much of what it did give away seemed suspiciously in line with recent fan speculation, from the introduction of Ronin to the time jump. When Marvel Studios have remained this reluctant for so long to deliver the details, it’s unlikely that they’ll be giving the whole game away with the first teaser.
Back to that title, though, and while Avengers: Assemble is a name that continues to circulate the forums as a suggestion for what the Avengers: Infinity War sequel could be called, this one seems way down the list of possibilities due to the fact that 2012’s The Avengers was released under this exact title in the United Kingdom to avoid confusion with a British TV show of the same name.
All the same, points for effort to whoever spent an afternoon typing this one out, because as a far as fan fiction goes, it’s really not that bad and honestly, it’s too bad that it’s now been deleted, as it made for a good read. As for what the title could actually be, Avengers: Annihilation remains the dominant prediction in many parts of the internet, but whatever we end up calling it, you can expect to see a whole load of heroes assembling when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
