In an intriguing, but also kind of frustrating, move from Marvel Studios, the title of next year’s Avengers 4 is being kept tightly under wraps until after Avengers: Infinity War arrives. Back when the films were first announced, both were to share the same moniker, as they were then pitched as two halves of the same story. This was altered over production, however, and now the thinking is that they’ll be separate, if closely linked, entities.
But what could that title be? Whatever it is, it seems that it directly correlates with the content of Infinity War, which is why its reveal has to be made after fans have already seen the upcoming third Avengers movie. It’s an idea that’s been knocked around before, but apparently directors Anthony and Joe Russo have said as much in a new interview.
As initially picked up by Jeremy Conrad, Twitter user Gavin Feng has translated the key points from a Q&A with the Russo brothers held at a recent fan event. And the most interesting bit is what they had to say about the title of Avengers 4, as according to Feng, they revealed that it’s a spoiler for Infinity War.
Whatever it ends up being called, the directors have also promised that the title will scare fans once it’s finally revealed. That suggests that it’ll be much more interesting than something obvious like Infinity Gauntlet, though it’ll still no doubt suggest that the threat of Thanos is only going to increase in the next installment.
While Infinity War arrives in just a few days, on April 27th, we shouldn’t expect the Avengers 4 title to be revealed anytime soon, as we’ve already been warned that it won’t be divulged for a while yet. In the meantime, though, feel free to take to the comments section and let us know what you think it might be.
