Possible Avengers 4 Title Was Already Mentioned In Age Of Ultron

When it comes to the endless quest to decipher what the real title for Avengers 4 is, fans have mostly analyzed Avengers: Infinity War for clues. Such as the theory that Doctor Strange's line "we're in the endgame now" meant it would be called Avengers: Endgame. The latest intel on the movie points to Avengers: Annihilation being its name, which kind of stumps the idea that the title was hinted at in previous films. Or does it?

Reddit user HelsenDiaN noticed that the all-important word “annihilation” was name-checked by Scarlet Witch back in Age of UltronThe moment in question comes when Wanda airs her suspicions about Vision, as at this point she believes him to be the same as Ultron. “I looked into your head and saw annihilation,” she says.

See for yourself in the pic below:

Obviously, in the context of the movie, Wanda’s witnessed Ultron’s destructive plans for the future – either the decimation of Sokovia or his eventual eye on world domination. In the wider scheme of things, though, she could have tapped into the Mind Stone in Vision’s head and foreseen the horror it would be a part of thanks to Thanos’ finger snap in Infinity War.

Annihilation is stacking up as a very believable title for Avengers 4 so far. It’s one-word, like the Russos promised it would be, and it’s not Endgame or Forever, which the directors also ruled out. Like Infinity War, it’s also pulled from a classic comic book storyline. Though we don’t expect cosmic villain Annihilus to show up in the movie, mainly because he’s tied up with the rights to the Fantastic Four over at Fox.

That’s the only issue, in fact. Annihilation would make for a great crossover movie once Marvel get their hands on the Four in the near future. So would they really use the title up on an unrelated production like Avengers 4? Time will tell, but color us intrigued for now.
