It’s being reported that Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger and Kate Beckinsale are all testing for the second female lead in Joseph Kosinski’s Horizons, which already has Tom Cruise and Jessica Chastain attached. The three actresses will reportedly fly to Pittsburgh, where Cruise is currently filming One Shot, to test for the role.
All three actresses have really been making their marks lately with Beckinsale just wrapping up the Total Recall remake, Atwell shooting to fame this year with Captain America: The First Avenger and Kruger recently staring in Farewell My Queen.
The synopsis for Horizons, which is based on Kosinski’s graphic novel Oblivion, reads:
“A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.”
It is currently unclear if Chastain has been cast as the “unexpected traveler” or if that is the role that these actresses will test for but either way, hopefully we will have more news on the casting shortly.
Horizons, which is set to begin filming next year, stars Tom Cruise and Jessica Chastain and is set for release on July 19th, 2013.
