Despite an impressive resume that boasts hits like The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica and Felicia’s Journey, director Atom Egoyan has fallen into a bit of a slump lately. The campy Chloe was mediocre at best and his recent West Memphis Three drama, Devil’s Knot, was a huge misfire. In general, I do like the director and his work, so I’m hopeful that he can find his groove again. Thankfully, it seems like he just might with his upcoming film, Remember.
THR is reporting today that Egoyan has signed Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, Bruno Ganz and Dean Norris on for what is being described as a thriller “in which the darkest chapter of modern history collides with a contemporary mission of revenge.”
Sure, it’s pretty vague, but that logline is definitely enough to get me hooked. Plus, the cast is absolutely stellar, featuring three solid veterans along with the always reliable Dean Norris. Not bad at all.
Personally, I’m hoping that Remember marks a return to form for the director. At this stage though, it’s way too early to tell if it will be. The cast is certainly promising, but until we hear more about the plot, it’s hard to get a clear picture of how this one will shape up.
