In today’s more adorable movie news, two big names are now connected with LEGO’s upcoming big screen debut, Lego: The Piece of Resistance. First Showing is reporting funnyman Will Arnett has been solidified to play the blocky version of Batman while Channing Tatum has first option at voicing a LEGO version of Superman.
The two stars would join Chris Pratt who has already been tapped to voice Emmet, a normal everyday LEGO citizen who is mistaken for a “MasterBuilder” and drafted into a rag-tag group of characters trying to prevent an evil villain from gluing the universe together.
First Showing also makes a great point by stating the following:
It’s not clear how Batman and Superman will fit into the equation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if more iconic figures of comics and pop culture showed up in their LEGO form from the various playsets and video games out there.
Sounds like a pretty spot on prediction to me, given the LEGO universe is vastly populated with famous faces. Just off the top of my head, how about LEGO Indiana Jones? LEGO Star Wars? LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean? LEGO Spiderman!?
With news and prospects like this, the LEGO movie is shaping up to be quite a fun-filled and star-studded animated adventure. Not to mention, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs/21 Jump Street directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord have been given the reigns on this project.
Having a huge soft spot for animated films, Lego: The Piece of Resistance is already getting me excited due to the parties involved.
Anyone else ready to see one of their most iconic childhood toys get the big screen treatment?
