Armie Hammer Spotted On The Set Of Captain America 2, Is He Playing Ant-Man?

Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pretty solidly mapped out in terms of casting and at least some plot details, but not much information has come to light past that. Phase Three is set to kick off after The Avengers 2 with Ant-Man in November, 2015. That film's hero has yet to be cast, at least publicly, but a fan favorite was spotted on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, prompting rumors that he would be playing the sometime diminutive superhero.

Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pretty solidly mapped out in terms of casting and at least some plot details, but not much information has come to light past that. Phase Three is set to kick off after The Avengers 2 with Ant-Man in November, 2015. That film’s hero has yet to be cast, at least publicly, but a fan favorite was spotted on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, prompting rumors that he would be playing the sometimes diminutive superhero.

Armie Hammer recently visited the set of Captain America 2, and a reporter over at Screen Rant went ahead and asked him why he was there. To sum up their interview, Hammer dodged the questions, acting as if he knows nothing about the project, or any rumors that he had been cast, but he does it in such a playful way that it certainly seems like he’s hiding something. He claimed his visit to the set was purely because a buddy of his was working on the movie and he wanted to stop by and say hi.

Perhaps Hammer was just going to see a friend, but there’s a chance this is a lot more than that. With Comic-Con coming up next month, that’d be a likely place for a huge casting like this to be announced, or maybe he was actually getting ready to film a cameo which will appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

As much as I think that Hammer would be a solid choice for Ant-Man, he’s still my top choice to play Batman in the upcoming reboot or Justice League. While playing one doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t play the other, it basically does, and if I had to choose I’d take him as Batman over Ant-Man any day.

Do you think Hammer showing up on set means anything? Would you rather see him in Ant-Man or as Batman? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
