A lot of people have watched Aquaman in theaters – more, in fact, than just about anyone could’ve anticipated this time last year – but if you’ve waited this long to see what all the fuss is about, or just feel like revisiting Arthur Curry’s underwater adventure, then you may be pleased to hear that the home release dates have now been announced.
James Wan’s box office smash will be available on digital from March 5th, before landing on Blu-ray and DVD on March 26th. That means you could be less than a month away from watching Jason Momoa fight sea monsters from the comfort of your living room.
In the meantime, the $1.1 billion global box office total of Aquaman continues to rise, with the film recently surpassing The Dark Knight Rises as the highest-grossing DC movie of all time. A couple of weeks ago, Wan characterized this toppling of the Caped Crusader’s biggest movie as a symbolic moment, declaring via Twitter that “when the King of Atlantis surpasses the Dark Knight of Gotham City, orange will officially be the new black for Warner Bros.”
Needless to say, you can expect to see Arthur’s trademark’s orange shirt back on our screens within the next few years, with Deadline reporting last month that Warner Bros. is busy developing an Aquaman sequel. Wan, meanwhile, is said to be waiting to see what kind of script the studio comes up with, though it sounds like Warner is willing to pay a generous fee to bring back the Conjuring helmsman.
In any case, there’ll be plenty of time to learn the specifics of the next installment of the Arthur Curry saga, but first, we’ll find out if the DCEU can sustain its newfound box office momentum when Shazam! hits theaters on April 5th, 2019.
