Thanks to a ton of positive buzz from the first film and an excellent marketing campaign, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is quickly becoming one of the biggest movie events of the summer. We are fast approaching its July 11th premiere, which means we’re going to start seeing more and more of the apes vs. humans blockbuster in the coming weeks.

We’ve already seen an awesome new poster for the film, as well as a few trailers, and now we have a new harrowing and action-packed TV spot to share with you as well. Check it out for yourself below:

As you can see, apes actually have the upper hand when it comes to survival. Not only are they growing in numbers as humanity slides ever closer to extinction, but they also don’t require the basic necessities of heat and electricity that we do. Plus, it looks like they can hold their own against bears.

We also see a few more glimpses at the conflict between the humans themselves, as Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman butt heads when choosing how to interact with the ever-evolving apes. Clarke warns Oldman about threatening Caesar’s family, but it’s clear that he doesn’t listen to him, causing an escalation of violence that leads to all-out war between the two species.

Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Judy Greer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Toby Kebbell, and Nick Thurston. Make sure to read the official synopsis below, and let us know whether you’ll be rooting for when the film finally hits theaters.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
