Such is the breathless pace of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it’s often the case that viewers are still reeling from one film – like, say, Black Panther – and the Powers That Be are on the verge of launching the next. Or, at the very least, stoking the embers of excitement.
Take Ant-Man and the Wasp as an example. The Peyton Reed-directed sequel currently finds itself smack bang in the middle of two Marvel titans, and we’ve now learned that the movie shares some connective tissue with the so-far untitled Avengers 4. Granted, you’ll have to hang around until after the credits have rolled to witness it, but it is there.
Yes, as expected, Marvel used one of the two post-credits scenes to tie Peyton Reed’s sequel into next May’s blockbuster, but before we proceed any further, we’ll issue the standard spoiler warning. If you want to go into the film not knowing a thing, turn back now. However, if you just can’t wait to learn all of Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s secrets, continue reading after the jump.
From what we understand, one of the post-credits scenes has Scott heading into the Quantum Realm to help out Ghost, who’s apparently a friend by the end of the film. However, when he’s ready to exit and radios Hank to bring him out, who’s supposed to be overseeing his mission along with Janet and Hope, we see that all three of them have been turned to dust thanks to Thanos’ Snap from Infinity War. This leaves Scott stranded in the Quantum Realm, with no one to help him escape.
Clearly, he’ll find a way back to the real world by the time Avengers 4 rolls around, but this is how the two films will connect, with Lang now having some solid motivation (the deaths of his friends) for joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in their fight against Thanos. If we had to speculate, we’d say that perhaps Captain Marvel will be the one to help him out of the Quantum Realm, but one way or another, he’ll be standing alongside Iron Man, Cap and the rest when Avengers 4 drops on May 3rd.
