Universal’s plan for a shared universe revolving around their iconic movie monsters was initially met with a great deal of scepticism, but the actors they’re casting are undeniably impressive. That’s evident from the latest addition to The Mummy, as Annabelle Wallis, an actress best known for Peaky Blinders, is in talks to join the cast.

Tom Cruise is believed to be playing a former special forces soldier in the movie, while Wallis is being eyed to take on the role of a scientist. Meanwhile, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond actress Sofia Boutella has been cast as the titular character.

Alex Kurtzman (who has co-written movies like Transformers and Star Trek Into Darkness) is directing The Mummy, while Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) wrote the screenplay. As for Wallis, she can currently be seen opposite Sasha Baron Cohen in The Brothers Grimsby and will soon be starring in Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.

The Mummy has been set for a March 24th, 2017 release, and with production expected to begin soon, more casting additions will no doubt be made in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
