In this age of comic book movie blockbusterism, superheroes and supervillains are the go-to question during press interviews. If you could play any character from any comic, who might it be? is a commonly-asked one to break the monotony of mandatory Q&A topics. The responses are a lot of fun to read; from actors who’ve never picked up a comic in their life, to those who are devout readers.
Most of the time their replies result in a whirlwind of chatter taken out of context. Today’s Squirrel Girl tidbit is one of those times, but is still a discussion-worthy matter because hello, it’s Anna Kendrick. She’s terrific, and honestly, who knows if something MIGHT come of her Net-A-Porter interview where she dropped this little gem:
“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”
And there you have it, folks. It’s hardly a precursor to the Oscar-nominee getting cast. That would in itself be tricky, as there’s no Squirrel Girl movie currently in development. Or if it is, its status is being kept from the public at this point. Still, should that really be the case?
