Anna Kendrick has just signed on for Rob Marshall’s Into The Woods. The big screen adaption of Stephen Sondheim’s musical already has an incredible cast on board, with Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep starring and James Corden, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt supporting.

Kendrick, who showed off her pipes in Pitch Perfect, will be taking on the role of Cinderella in a story that follows “a baker and his wife whose family has been cursed by a witch. They head into the forest to try and lift the spell, crossing paths with iconic characters like Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), and Little Red Riding Hood along the way.”

Personally, I haven’t seen the play that the film is based on but I have heard only good things about it and I know that it was nominated for numerous Tony awards when it was released, which is a pretty good sign. Plus, Marshall has experience with musicals already, having directed Chicago, and he’s assembled quite the cast for this one. I especially can’t wait to see Depp as the Big Bad Wolf.

Production on Into The Woods will get underway this Summer with a 2014 release date eyed.
