Indie darling Joe Swanberg caught the attention of the mainstream moviegoing public last year when he released Drinking Buddies, the smart and refreshing comedy that boasted fantastic chemistry from its main cast, which consisted of Jake Johnson, Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick and Ron Livingston. Now, the director is re-teaming with Johnson and Kendrick for his next film, Digging For Fire.

The Wrap is reporting that the two actors will be joined by Rosemarie DeWitt, Sam Rockwell, Brie Larson, Orlando Bloom, Jenny Slate and comedian Mike Birbiglia. That’s a pretty awesome cast, and with a script from Johnson and Swanberg, the potential for this film to turn out to be just as enjoyable as the director’s last effort is certainly there.

Perhaps the most surprising thing to come out of all this though is that Swanberg is already done shooting. Yup, that’s right. Digging For Fire has already wrapped production. Plot details are being kept a secret until closer to release, but from what we’re hearing, Johnson and DeWitt have the leads, with Rockwell, Larson and Bloom in supporting roles. Kendrick, Birbiglia and Slate will show up in a smaller capacity. We also know that Beasts of Southern Wild cinematographer Ben Richardson shot on 35mm film. Beyond that though, this project is shrouded in mystery.

No release date has been announced just yet, but with Digging For Fire already completed, I imagine that we’ll be seeing it some time soon. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
