Ridley Scott is racking up quite the cast for his next film, a script from Cormac McCarthy titled The Counselor. Vulture is reporting that Angelina Jolie may be in talks for a small role in the film. If she signs on, she would be joining Michael Fassbender and possibly Jeremy Renner, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem or Natalie Portman, as they have all been rumored for roles in the film.
In what is being described as No Country For Old Men on steroids, the film tells the story of “an attorney who is in search of a big payday after he proposes to his girlfriend, Laura. He hooks up with Reiner, an acquaintance with deep criminal ties, for a new business proposition: they’ll take $20 million worth of cocaine from south of the border and offload it themselves. When the plan falls the protagonist gets in to serious trouble with the wrong people and finds himself struggling to keep his head above water.”
Though it’s not known which part Jolie is in talks for, she will presumably play Laura. As for financing and distribution, FOX is currently looking to distribute and possibly co-finance the movie.
The Counselor is set to start shooting in June and when we have more updates we’ll be sure to let you know.
