Andrew Garfield Linked To A Lead Role In Indie Drama 99 Homes

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Garfield has been tipped to star in 99 Homes, which will be shot by the award-winning writer-director Ramin Bahrani. In the wake of his debut success with 2005’s Man Push Cart, the filmmaker has become accustomed to exploring the world from a street-level perspective, and with 99 Homes – a drama that orbits around a man losing his home to foreclosure – the director's latest venture behind the lens will be infused with a realistic, contemporary dynamic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Garfield has been tipped to star in 99 Homes, which will be shot by the award-winning writer-director Ramin Bahrani. In the wake of his debut success with 2005’s Man Push Cart, the filmmaker has become accustomed to exploring the world from a street-level perspective, and with 99 Homes – a drama that orbits around a man losing his home to foreclosure – the director’s latest venture behind the lens will be infused with a realistic, contemporary dynamic.

As the story progresses, Garfield’s man-out-of-luck joins forces with a real estate broker in order to make ends meet. It just so happens that that same real estate broker is also the bigwig that took possession of his old house. What follows next is a Wall Street-esque journey that sees our protagonist evicting homeowners himself under his affiliate’s guidance. An act which, in due time, will force him to question the direction of his eschewed moral compass.

At this moment in time, there are no firm dates for when the cameras will start to roll, and given the low-budget style of Bahrani’s M.O., it may be some time yet before we see Garfield’s turn as a man clutching at straws in 99 Homes. That being said, it’s been reported that producers are currently sending out feelers in order to cast the pivotal role of the manipulative banker.

Following his breakout performance in David Fincher’s The Social Network, Andrew Garfield has shot up the Hollywood pecking order at a blistering pace. Having penned a three-film contract for Sony’s Spider-Man reboot – one which will see him reprise his Peter Parker get-up in 2014, 2016 and, depending on contract extensions, 2018 – Bahrani’s project will offer the 29-year-old a much needed lull from Marc Webb’s colossal franchise.

Currently, Andrew Garfield is busy swinging between skyscrapers on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is slated for release in 2014. But given this recent casting news, what are your thoughts about the actor signing up for the indie drama 99 Homes? Let us know your opinion down below.
