These past few weeks we’ve been seeing a ton of new trailers for some very big films. Among them were, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and Hugo Cabret.
Today, we have another highly anticipated trailer in the form of The Amazing Spider-Man. This is the official version (not the bootleg that leaked yesterday) and it comes to us courtesy of Movie-List.
The trailer mostly features Andrew Garfield as the masked web slinger but we also get a brief look at some of the other characters (Gwen Stacy, Dr. Connors etc). The first half focuses on Peter Parker, showing us who he is and how he becomes Spider-Man. Then, for the last little bit we are treated to a first person view of Spidy running through the city, which is kind of a neat sequence. It comes in at two and a half minutes and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
That being said, I do have my doubts about the film, mainly in regards to Andrew Garfield and if he will be able to pull off the role. He can definitely do the Peter Parker bit but I’m still not sure I can see him as a superhero. The trailer doesn’t really show off anything in regards to Spider-Man fighting enemies or stopping crime, so we’ll have to wait and see if Garfield is a good fit for the other half of the character.
The tone of the film looks fairly dark and less comic than Sam Raimi’s version although with only such a brief look, it’s hard to tell if that will carry on into the full film or if it just seems that way from the trailer. Either way, it definitely looks promising and I’m excited to get a look at some of the villains and action sequences, which will probably show up in the next trailer.
The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary, with Marc Webb directing. It will be released in theaters next summer on July 3rd, 2012, in 3D and IMAX.
