MovieCastingCalls has unearthed an alleged cast list that claims Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will be involved in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War after all.
As things stand, Larson is set to make her first appearance as Carol Danvers via the confirmed 2019 solo movie, but Joe and Anthony Russo seemingly have plans in place to draft her in opposite Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Captain Marvel’s potential involvement is something the Russo brothers have teased in the past, and even though the co-directors haven’t explicitly confirmed nor denied Larson’s role, allowing moviegoers to get acquainted with the MCU’s newfound heroine in two years’ time certainly makes sense.
[wgtc_youtube video_id=”lUuRffbaYpk”]After all, it’s a tactic the Russos employed for Captain America: Civil War, bringing in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man with aplomb to simultaneously introduce the Web-Head and generate excitement for Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, one interesting takeaway from today’s report is that Tom Holland’s name is conspicuously absent from the alleged Infinity War cast sheet which, while disappointing, would align with the actor’s previous comments regarding Marvel’s purported plans to reserve Spider-Man’s induction until the fourth Avengers film. Holland is currently contracted for an additional five movies, remember, three of which are solo Marvel movies.
Avengers: Infinity War is booked in for May 4, 2018. Meanwhile, its untitled sequel currently occupies May 3, 2019 on the Marvel slate, and though the studio has already staked out a trio of release dates across 2020, expect the identity of those movies to remain a mystery until Infinity War is out in the open.
