While the actress couldn’t comment on production or indeed the story specifics of Bourne 2016, Ex Machina breakout Alicia Vikander recently sat down with The Wrap to discuss her role opposite Damon in the upcoming espionage sequel.

Though Vikander didn’t realize it at the time, starring in Guy Ritchie’s action thriller The Man From U.N.C.L.E. has offered moviegoers a fleeting glimpse at how the Swedish actress fares in the genre, though Vikander will seemingly have a much more “action-driven” part in Universal’s film. When quizzed about the nature of her involvement in Bourne 5, the actress said that “I’m not doing the conventional action but I’m very action-driven in this film. But it’s not in the way most people would think.”

Recently nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work Tom Hooper’s intimate drama The Danish Girl, there’s no question that Vikander has the talent to add a sense of dramatic heft to Greengrass’ long-awaited tentpole, though she conceded that filming all across Athens, Berlin and Washington D.C..

“I came from Sweden where it’s like 30, 40 people, and here on ‘The Danish Girl,’ doing a British film, it’s 100, and then you end up on these sets, and I know on Monday or Tuesday we’re going to have 1,600 extras just in one scene. I hadn’t met Matt, I was just the biggest fan,” she said of Damon, who is nominated for an Oscar, as well as Vikander. “He’s very funny on set and then he’s just extremely cool as Bourne, but we all know that.”

Also starring Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmed and Scott Shepherd, Bourne 5 is penciled in for a release on July 29, 2016.
