The popular writing and producing duo of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci seem to be involved in almost every blockbuster set to come our way in the next few years. Not only are they producing the upcoming Ender’s Game, but they’re also writing the script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And that’s just a few of their many upcoming projects.
Today, we can add another project to that list as, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the two have signed on to produce Dragonology for Universal Pictures.
Based on the popular children’s book series by Dugald A. Steer, Dragonology takes place in a world where dragons actually exist and are studied by humanity just like any other wildlife creature. The film will revolve around a group of ‘dragonologists’ who embark on a quest around the globe to stop a villainous man from controlling the dragons of the world and using them to wipe out humanity.
The series already spans twelve books, a series of board games, and a toy line, so bringing it to the big screen is the next logical step. As a potential film franchise it’s practically a golden egg.
Who better to help bring it to the big screen than the pair who Forbes magazine once described as ‘the quiet force behind $3 billion at the box office’?
