As if It: Chapter Two doesn’t look scary enough already, Alamo Drafthouse is ready to make the viewing experience even freakier. The theater chain will be hosting clowns-only screening events at seventeen locations in eleven cities this September. Moviegoers are encouraged to come dressed in terrifying carnival outfits to pay homage to Pennywise.
The isn’t the first time a theater has been packed with creepy clowns. Similarly themed screenings occurred back in 2017 for the first It film, which shattered records on its way to becoming an instant classic. The flick’s much-anticipated sequel has the potential to make even more money this time around, which is why Alamo Drafthouse is trying to ensure that horror fans have as much fun a possible during their viewing experience. After all, it’s hard to think of anything more frightening than a dark room full of clowns.
The theater chain hosted only one of these special events two years ago in Austin. It was such a smash hit though that moviegoers can now purchase tickets all over the nation. Those who want to participate should buy their tickets in advance, too, as showing up dressed as a clown to a regular showing may be frowned upon by the theater’s staff, as well as fellow patrons.
Tickets for the clowns-only screenings can be purchased here, while the list of participating cities, locations and dates can be found below:

Of course, people with bad cases of coulrophobia probably shouldn’t consider attending these all-clown events. In fact, it might be a good idea for them to skip the feature altogether when It: Chapter Two opens in theaters nationwide on September 6th.
