Ever since that post-credits scene at the end of Guardians 2, fans have been eager to see Adam Warlock make his long-awaited debut in the MCU. The golden hero was originally theorized to appear in Avengers: Infinity War after Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha of the Sovereign created him but, though IW’s writers have revealed they toyed with the idea, it didn’t happen. The wait may soon be over, though, as all the signs are pointing to Him arriving in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
User TheMarvelScoopMaster has been dropping a lot of intriguing info on Reddit of late. Recently, he spilled that Marvel is looking to start production on the cosmic threequel in February 2020. Alongside this, the Redditor confirmed that he believes Adam will debut in the movie. Plus, he gave us a window for when to expect the character to be cast: this November.
“[Adam Warlock] is coming and it looks like in GOTG 3. Casting will start in Nov so expect more news then.”
When it comes to casting Adam, fans have a number of top contenders. Rumors say that Zac Efron might be in the running for the part, something most aren’t opposed to. Then there’s fan art depicting everyone from Alexander Skarsgard to Game of Thrones‘ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the role. Knowing how these things often work, though, it’ll likely end up being someone fans never even considered. Much like Chris Pratt landing the Star-Lord gig back in the day.
When he does arrive, Adam will no doubt prove important to the cosmic side of the MCU going forward, as Marvel is expected to be splitting their focus in two in Phase Four – with the space-set movies having their own story arc and the ground-level stuff doing the same. And Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will kick off the former when it (reportedly) arrives in 2021.
