There’s bold fan theories, and then there’s MCU fan-grade bold fan theories.
Indeed, when it comes to fan theories, there’s perhaps not a single fandom more unhinged than that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who have been known to dream ahead decades in advance while still somehow living in the past as they pitch a flurry of resurrection stories for Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.
With nuances as zany as you’d expect from a Marvel era titled the Multiverse Saga, it’s admittedly quite hard to dream up a theory that doesn’t have some degree of plausibility, but r/marvelstudios has proven time and time again to be an unstoppable force in the face of expectations, and this latest suggestion that Kang the Conqueror will somehow not be the saga’s Thanos-level threat is prime fuel for that force.
The user argues that Kang making his first appearance long before The Kang Dynasty suggests that the character is just a decoy for the real, still-hidden big bad. Of course, we’re all but certain that his status as the top dog will become clear once Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters, and on top of that, you don’t cast an actor of Jonathan Majors’ untouchable gravitas if you’re not going to push it to its limits.
Nevertheless, the original poster is hard-committing to their assertion that the Beyonder will be the real villainous linchpin of the Multiverse Saga, if for no other reason than Secret Wars being the title of The Kang Dynasty‘s companion piece.
No one but Feige himself may be in the know about what will really happen, but it’s safe to say that we can disregard comic accuracy as far as MCU nuances go. For Secret Wars especially, it would come as little surprise if just about everything we knew from the comics was absent from the MCU’s iteration; it’s already shaping up to be its own thing entirely, with Scarlet Witch looking primed to fill the role that Molecule Man did in the comics.
