Making Star Wars is at it again. This time, the outlet has unearthed a new report concerning an alleged chase scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that takes place on the “casino planet” of Canto Blight.
It’s a truly bizarre rumor involving Finn (John Boyega), Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) and some form of space horse called a Falthier. At the risk of treading into spoiler territory too early, though, we should warn you that this purported plot point uncovers a fair chunk of Rian Johnson’s upcoming sci-fi sequel, so if you’re aiming to maintain a clean slate ahead of December 15th – or, at least, the closest approximation of a clean slate one can create in the Internet era – then stop reading now, and for heaven’s sake, don’t look in the direction of Making Star Wars unless you want to know everything and anything relating to The Last Jedi.
Still with us? Good. So, after casting light on Luke Skywalker’s alien allies on board the Jedi Temple of Ahch-To – they’re called Porgs, and they’re bloody well adorable – Making Star Wars has turned its crosshairs toward Canto Blight, a thriving “casino planet” that will reportedly feature quite heavily in The Last Jedi.
The Croatian city of Dubrovnik doubled as the far-flung planet during production, and today’s tidbit seemingly confirms a bizarre chase sequence involving Finn, Rose, the aforementioned horse-like creature known as a Falthier, and a swarm of mysterious interlopers. Essentially, John Boyega’s Resistance fighter steals a Faltheir from a nearby stable, before managing to lose the duo’s pursuers while taking shelter in a bustling alien coffee shop – the Star Wars equivalent of a neon-drenched Starbucks, according to the outlet.
Here’s a small extract from the full report:
In Star Wars: The Last Jedi I have learned that the horse we used to call ‘The Space Horse’ is actually called a ‘falthier.’ They’re race horses. As we’ve noted previously, Canto Bight has gambling and we used to call it “the casino planet.” Well, the falthiers are high-dollar ‘race horses’ on the world. The beige/brown falthiers were glimpsed last summer during filming on location in Dubrovnik.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be with us on December 15th. But what’s your knee-jerk reaction to today’s report? Do let us know below.
