8 Superhero Movie Crossovers We’d Love To See At Some Point

There's never been a better time to be a comic book movie fan. It’s become a bit of a cliché to say it by now, but that doesn’t make it any less true. As 2016 has made plain, with multiple franchises producing at least two a piece this year, various studios are working towards creating expansive, all-encompassing movie universes that mirror the shared worlds of the comics. Marvel are obviously in the lead with this at the moment, but Fox’s X-Men franchise is finally realizing its potential and DC are quickly playing catch up.

The Crossover: If a TV/movie crossover is out of the question, how about a big movie event that unites various previous DC movie franchises. Much like our Spider-Verse idea, this version of the Crisis on Infinite Earths movie could see the DCEU clash with the world of Christian Bale’s Batman or Brandon Routh’s Superman. Or, going further back, Michael Keaton’s Batman. Or, given the Zack Snyder connection, the world of Watchmen? The possibilities are practically endless.

Again, like Spider-Verse, this could provide closure for those franchises that were left hanging. For instance, what happened to Keaton’s Batman after Batman Returns? Did Christian Bale’s Bruce really live happily ever after with Selina in Paris? We want to know these things, damn it!

Likelihood – 4/10: Despite this potentially being the bigger logistical nightmare ever – for this to work, all of these old stars would have to be willing to return – we can still see this happening more than the TV crossover. That being said, while the studio could probably get away with harking back to previous movies in something irreverent like The LEGO Batman Movie, in a serious, live-action outing, they may have a tougher time.
