8 Superhero Movie Crossovers We’d Love To See At Some Point

There's never been a better time to be a comic book movie fan. It’s become a bit of a cliché to say it by now, but that doesn’t make it any less true. As 2016 has made plain, with multiple franchises producing at least two a piece this year, various studios are working towards creating expansive, all-encompassing movie universes that mirror the shared worlds of the comics. Marvel are obviously in the lead with this at the moment, but Fox’s X-Men franchise is finally realizing its potential and DC are quickly playing catch up.

Tim Miller and Simon Kinberg Tease a Spider-Man and Deadpool Crossover

The Crossover: Two of Marvel’s biggest breakout characters are Spider-Man and Deadpool. One might be a kid-friendly property and the other the star of a very R-rated movie, but that hasn’t stopped fans from dreaming of seeing the two red-clad heroes teaming up on the big screen. Director Tim Miller has even said that he hoped he could get the rights to Spider-Man in order to sew Deadpool – and by extension the X-Men franchise – together with the MCU.

It’s a mouth-watering idea as the characters are just so well matched. They’re both fond of quips and one-liners, but there’s an interesting conflict to be mined in how they deal with their enemies very differently. Hopefully, whoever takes over from Miller in Deadpool 2 can continue to campaign for a Spideypool meeting.

Likelihood – 6/10: This is a tricky one. On the one hand, Spidey is already tied up with Sony and Marvel, so loaning him out to Fox as well shouldn’t be too difficult, right? On the other, those studios might not want to taint the family-orientated Spider-Man brand with that of Deadpool. Still, stranger things have happened.
