8 Obscure X-Men Characters We Need To See In Deadpool 2

The original X-Men trilogy and subsequent spin-offs pushed Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to the fore, often at the expense of other potentially more interesting characters, but the success of Deadpool proves that the franchise no longer needs to rely exclusively on recognisable names.

Multiple Man

As Marvel heroes go, Deadpool is pretty f**king strange. Whether he’s speaking to the audience, taking the piss out of everyone in sight or even talking to himself, the Merc with a Mouth doesn’t know how to shut up. Of course, that’s part of his charm, but what the first Deadpool movie lacked was another hero who could potentially match the mercenary on this level, trading barbs at this frantic pace.

Meet Jamie Madrox. Sure, he isn’t the funniest hero on the face of the planet, but as a private detective working in the “Mutant Town” area of New York City, the Multiple Man developed a dry wit that could act as a perfect counter point for Deadpool’s over the top antics.

That’s not all, though. Multiple Man also possesses the ability to generate duplicates of himself, gaining any knowledge and skills that they have learned before they are reabsorbed. In the past, Madrox has sent some of these duplicates out to follow separate lives, giving him a variety of advanced skills including instant language acquisition and Olympic-level gymnastic prowess.

The unfortunate, but fascinating side effect of this is that some of Madrox’s multiples eventually developed personalities of their own, ranging from cowardly to psychotic. Deadpool may have issues with multiple personality disorder, but Madrox suffers from the condition in a very literal sense. The chaos that could ensue from a team-up between the two mutants would be hilarious and could even rival the love/hate relationship that Deadpool shares with Cable.

Did we mention that Madrox has also dated Siryn, a potential love interest that Deadpool has been heavily involved with in the past? This stuff literally writes itself.
