Update: Sources are now reporting that the prologue is actually 6 minutes instead of the originally rumored 8.
Do you remember back in 2007 when Warner Brothers attached the opening bank robbery scene from The Dark Knight to IMAX prints of I Am Legend? Well, according to Batman-News it looks like they plan on doing something similar with The Dark Knight Rises. A trusted source is saying that a 6 minute prologue to The Dark Night Rises will be attached to all IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the Brad Bird directed sequel to a series made popular by returning star Tom Cruise.
Can you imagine what kind of footage could be shown here? So many things surrounding The Dark Knight Rises are up in the air at this point and this detailed new clip could help shed some light on characters like Bane, Catwoman and even Batman himself!
Whatever the footage is I’m sure Christopher Nolan won’t disappoint. When you’re given such a grand scale like the IMAX format to display some footage the pressure starts to build and I’d hate to see Nolan mess it up on the last entry of his Batman saga. That’s not even bringing in M:I – GP into the equation, which is shaping up to be quite the Hollywood blockbuster for this winter.
The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy. It is scheduled for release on July 20th, 2012.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton and Ving Rhames. It will be released this winter on December 16th in select IMAX theaters and December 21st nationwide.
Both films will be released in traditional 2D as well as IMAX 2D.
