F Gary Gray

After helming Oscar favourite (despite it being snubbed by the Academy) Straight Outta Compton, F. Gary Gray is currently hard at work on a very different kind of movie with Fast and Furious 8. It’s going to be interesting seeing how he handles the high octane and crazy action that franchise has become known for, but assuming he manages to successfully follow in the footsteps of those who have come before him, a superhero movie may very well be the logical next step for the director.

If Fox is looking to bring a sense of fun back to the X-Men franchise, it’s fair to say that Gray can more than likely deliver while also maintaining the same sort of serious dramatic stakes the franchise has become known for under Singer’s watch. While that may not sound all that different to what’s happening with these movies now, hiring Gray would definitely feel like some much needed fresh blood has been added to the franchise.
