8 Alternate Versions Of Spider-Man We Need To See On The Big Screen

Last year, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures made history when they reached a deal which will see Spider-Man become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Played by Tom Holland, the new Peter Parker will first show up in Captain America: Civil War before starring in a solo outing next year from director Jon Watts. As of right now, we still haven't seen so much as a single official image of the new Spider-Man, but the future still looks bright for the iconic superhero.

Scarlet Spider

While Ben Reilly may be the first name which comes to mind when thinking about the Scarlet Spider, I’ll get to him a little later. Instead, it’s the Kaine Parker version who could ultimately factor into these movies in a really interesting way, though it will take some time.

Originally introduced as a scarred and borderline insane clone of Peter Parker’s, he’s eventually healed, steals one of Spidey’s suits and heads to Houston to become a reluctant hero known as the Scarlet Spider. That right there is a pretty much perfect premise of a spinoff movie, and following his journey as he leaves his villainous ways behind him would make for compelling viewing.

In recent years, the Spider-Man comics have really delved into the mystical side of the character’s powers, and much of that has been linked to the Scarlet Spider; should Marvel decide to touch on any of that, then further exploring it with by telling Kaine’s story would be really smart.
