6) Expanding The DCU
While Phase 2 of the MCU is coming to a close with Ant-Man, DC are still in the early stages of their venture and are busy playing catch-up in terms of establishing a believable universe. While it may seem somewhat forced to include numerous members of the upcoming Justice League in Batman V Superman, the concept of Suicide Squad feels like a natural way to expand the roster of potential villains that can be tapped for future movies.
Aside from Loki, Marvel have struggled to pit their heroes against memorable villains, so releasing Suicide Squad this early on in the overall schedule may be a shrewd move on DC’s part, enabling them to sidestep this flaw that Marvel are still struggling to address. Also, potential Suicide Squad sequels could easily bring back fan favourite villains from the stand alone movies for future ensemble pieces.
