7 Insane Marvel Movie Theories That Will Blow Your Mind

We're now twelve movies in and the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no signs of slowing down. Anticipation for both Doctor Strange and Captain America: Civil War is building day by day and films scheduled to be released further down the line are regularly discussed on movie sites. What's most impressive about Marvel Studios though is the way that they've successfully adapted the shared universe of their source material, linking each of their films to create an ongoing saga.

While the competition may be slim, it’s hard to deny that Loki is the most popular villain depicted in the MCU so far, despite the fact that the majority of his onscreen appearances have been spent in captivity. One would think that the God of Mischief and Manipulation would be too intelligent to wind up behind bars without a back up plan of some kind, right?

One of the more popular Marvel movie fan theories doing the rounds is that Loki planned to ‘fail’ all along. The alien invasion of earth at the end of Avengers may have seemed like a huge deal to the puny humans, but for Loki, the entire battle was simply a means to an end, a way to cause mischief among the team before being sent back to Asgard.

At the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki successfully manipulated everyone around him to wind up on the throne of Asgard, replacing his father Odin. Fans of this theory have pointed out that in the first Thor film, the Infinity Gauntlet was hidden away in Odin’s trophy room and now that the Tesseract has been placed there, too, Loki has easy access to two of the most powerful weapons in the universe.

Whether he’s working with Thanos or not, Loki is undoubtedly playing the long game, proving to be a far bigger threat than anyone could have imagined.
