Danila Kozlovsky (Red Son Superman)
Is Superman: Red Son actually happening? Honestly, no one knows at this point and it could just be Mark Millar and Kong: Skull Island director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, trolling us on Twitter. Nonetheless, with this standalone universe thing taking shape, it’s definitely within the realm of possibility.
If this Elseworlds tale about a Soviet Superman does come to fruition, though, it would only make sense to let an actor from that region portray him. Our pick for the ‘Chelovek of Steel’ is Russian actor Danila Kozlovsky, who has appeared in a host of movies – normally as some type of menacing Russian enforcer. It’s unfortunate, because as a qualified theatre actor, he’s so much more than the stereotypical goon role he portrays.
Not only does Kozlovsky have the look and size to pull off this gargantuan role, but he’d be capable of speaking in the Russian language too, if DC/Warner Bros. are brave enough to make a foreign-language DC film.
All things considered, it does sound like this project could be an extreme long shot – especially because of all the political issues surrounding the US and Russia at the moment – but if it does happen, we’d love to see Kozlovsky become the Red Son Superman.
