Despite middling reviews, a problem-laden production and its failure to set the box office alight, Solo: A Star Wars Story still has plenty to offer. Any trepidation around Ehrenreich’s performance as the titular burgeoning smuggler proves unfounded and the buddy chemistry between him and New-bacca, Joonas Suotamo, is a real joy to behold.
As is now a staple of Disney’s saga, there are callbacks to the Original Trilogy and – *gasp* – the prequels that will either excite or exhaust, depending on your point of view (the dice are not a thing. Just leave them alone). Of course, there still burns the obvious question, though: “Do we need to see this?” That’s up for debate, but overall, Solo ends up asking a lot more questions than it answers.
And so, on that note, join us as we take a look at what’s next for both the franchise as a whole and for everyone’s favorite scruffy-lookin’ nerfherder. It may not have planted too many seeds, but Solo: A Star Wars Story certainly dropped more than a few hints of where we might be headed next in that galaxy far, far away.
