Gravity
If Gravity isn’t at the top of everyone’s list for this month, then there’s something seriously wrong. Either that, or those who aren’t excited for this movie have been stuck floating around space for the last year and a half.
Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant about Gravity at one point, merely because the film was delayed almost a full year. Usually when something is delayed it’s because there’s some sort of problem with production or things aren’t quite working out as they were supposed to. Well, if that’s the case for Gravity, I would love to see what director Alfonso Cuaron had originally planned.
Almost every review for the film so far has been glowing, including those from non-critics. Furthermore, countless directors and actors have taken to Twitter proclaiming that it’s one of the best films they’ve ever seen. Our very own review from TIFF is just as positive, giving the film 5 stars. Everyone knew Gravity was going to be good, but I don’t know that anyone knew it was going to be quite as good as it actually is.
How can a film involving two people floating in space be so intense? Well, first of all, if just the idea of that doesn’t terrify you, then you’re much tougher than I am. But seriously, just watch the extended trailer for the film. The music is nothing short of mesmerizing, and every second of the footage is completely mind-blowing. I’ve never been so terrified and so absorbed by a preview – and if the preview has that power, think about what the entire film will do.
