Overly-Infatuated Nick Carraway
What You’ll Need
An old-fashioned suit. Some hair wax.
What You’ll Do
In every iteration of The Great Gatsby Nick has seemed a bit uh… into his friend Jay. Baz Luhrmann’s version of the story was no different. In every scene Nick gazed longingly at Gatsby and tried to imitate his every move. So how do you capture this in a costume?
It’s simple really, you dress like Nick would, which could easily be mistaken for Gatsby, especially when you speak in a F. Scott Fitzgerald tone all night. People will likely ask if you’re dressed up as Gatsby. When they do, your reply should be something like this: “Me? Gatsby? Oh no. I’m sorry, but you’re quite mistaken. I am flattered though. I’ll have you know I actually know Mr. Gatsby, and he’s quite the impressive man. I’m positively thrilled you could confuse me with him.”
Bonus points if you glare at someone dressed as Daisy all night.
